Let me start. The year was 2000 and it was found in the 7/11 parking lot by Squaw Valley, CA. I was 17 at the time and couldn't have been happier.
A little background. Our friends dad purchased one new in 1972 and we pretty much spent all summers that boat. I learned how to waterski behind it.
We had a different boat before that. A 1979 Charger. It was a 21 footer and was very spacious. Even went through a flood in Russian River back in the 90's. We brought it back to life and it was better than ever? It was heavy, couldn't be launched everywhere and it seemed like it was breaking down all the time. Our friends Keaton was fun, reliable and GLITTER GREEN (at the time)! We wanted one for a while and as fate would have it we would find it. Or it found us I should say. :) The rest is history.
Now I'm about to tell you something you won't like... The boat hasn't been registered in 10 years. I literally registered it today. For whatever reason life happened and we stopped using it. We never considered selling it but things got in the way and we always just said "next year". Next year turned into 10 years. Sad. But that's all changing! I'll be towing up to Truckee where I now live in the next couple of weeks and it will be spending a lot of time on the lake that it first touched under our ownership. Donner Lake.
The photo below was taken during a weekend I spent getting the engine prepped for startup and after a power wash of the trailer and boat itself. I haven't polished it completely yet but that will be done when the boat is in Truckee.
